Docko turns a USB-C iPad into a low-latency HDMI monitor and recorder using a generic USB-C UVC capture card. If something isn't working, the answers below cover the most common cases. For anything else, email us — we read every message.

Requirements

• A USB-C iPad running iPadOS 18 or later.
• A generic USB-C UVC HDMI capture card (the kind that shows up as a standard webcam).
• An HDMI cable from the source device (console, camera, PC, etc.) into the capture card.

UVC capture is only possible on a USB-C iPad. iPhones and Lightning iPads cannot ingest a capture card, so Docko is an iPad-only app.

Troubleshooting

"No capture device found"

• Make sure the capture card is plugged directly into the iPad's USB-C port and the HDMI source is on.
• Try a different USB-C cable — some charge-only cables don't carry data.
• Confirm the capture card is a UVC ("plug-and-play / no driver needed") model.
• Unplug and replug the card; Docko detects hot-plugging automatically.

I see video but no sound

• Some capture cards have no audio function — Docko will show "No audio" in that case.
• Check that the source's HDMI audio output is enabled and the in-app volume is not muted.

The picture looks delayed

• Use the lowest-latency path: turn off filters and picture adjustments when you don't need them.
• Latency also depends on your capture card and the source device's own output lag.

My screenshots or recordings aren't saving

• Docko needs add-only Photos permission. If you declined it, enable it in Settings › Docko › Photos.
