Privacy Policy

Docko ("the app") turns a USB-C iPad into a low-latency monitor and recorder for an HDMI source connected through a generic USB-C UVC capture card. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with information. The app is provided by Max Szolcek ("we", "us"), who is the developer and the data controller for the purposes of this policy. You can reach us at maxszolcek@gmail.com.

Information we collect

None. We do not collect, receive, or have access to any personal information about you. We operate no servers, and the app contains no networking code, so it sends no data to us or to anyone else.

Device permissions and how they are used

Docko requests the following permissions purely to function on your device. The data they provide is processed locally, in real time, and is never sent to us or to any third party.

• Camera: iPadOS exposes a USB-C UVC capture card as a camera device. Docko uses this permission to read the incoming HDMI video so it can be shown on your screen. The live video is rendered on-device and is not recorded or transmitted unless you choose to capture it (see below).
• Microphone: Audio from the capture card arrives as a USB audio input. Docko uses the microphone permission to play this audio through your iPad and, when you record, to capture it. It is processed on-device and never transmitted.
• Photos (add only): If you turn on "Also save to Photos" (on by default), Docko writes a copy of your screenshots and recordings to your photo library. Access is add-only, so the app cannot read or browse your existing photos.

You can review or revoke Camera, Microphone, and Photos access for Docko at any time in iPadOS Settings › Privacy & Security (or Settings › Docko). Revoking a permission disables the related feature but does not delete anything you have already saved.

Content you capture

Every screenshot and recording you create is always stored locally inside the app, in Docko's own gallery within the app's folder on your iPad. In addition, if "Also save to Photos" is enabled (on by default), a copy is also saved to your Photos library. Both copies stay on your device. We never see, upload, or have access to this content.

The app's in-app gallery copy is separate from your Photos library: deleting an item in Photos does not remove Docko's local copy, and vice versa. You can delete the app's local copies from within Docko's gallery at any time, and deleting the app removes all of its local captures.

Once you save content to the Photos or Files app, that content is handled by iPadOS under your own device and iCloud settings. If you have iCloud Photos or iCloud Drive enabled, your content may sync to iCloud according to your Apple account settings. This is controlled entirely by you and Apple; Docko has no access to, and no control over, your iCloud account. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles iCloud data.

No tracking, analytics, or third parties

Docko contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking technologies, and bundles no third-party SDKs. It does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across apps or websites. The app makes no network connections of its own, so no data is shared with anyone. We do not, and will never, sell or share personal data.

Children and general audience

Docko is a general-audience utility rated 4+; it is not directed to children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), consistent with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code.

Data retention and deletion

We operate no servers and hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to retain, share, sell, or delete on our side. All data the app creates stays on your iPad:

• your screenshots and recordings, stored in Docko's in-app gallery and (optionally) your Photos library; and
• app preferences (such as your display and capture settings), stored locally on the device.

You are in full control and can delete this data at any time: remove recordings and screenshots via the Photos app, the Files app, or within Docko's gallery; and remove all app preferences and locally stored content by deleting Docko from your iPad. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored in its own container.

Your rights

Because Docko processes no personal data and performs no profiling and no international data transfers, there is no personal data on which GDPR data-subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) or CCPA/CPRA consumer rights (to know, delete, correct, or opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information) could operate. We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding 12 months. If you believe we hold personal data about you, contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
